Winter Park police officers responded to a youth soccer field this week after a league official requested help resolving a dispute between a coach and the parents of a three-year-old player. The incident drew national attention after the family posted video of the confrontation on social media, where the father stated that police were called because their son, Nevada, was too skilled for his age group.

Body camera footage obtained by local media shows the officers speaking with the coach on the field. The coach explained that Nevada was significantly more advanced than the other children on the team. He noted that the boy scored many goals but often pushed his opponents while doing so. The coach said he tried to instruct Nevada to play without pushing, but the parents disagreed with his approach.

According to the coach in the video, he rotated players to give everyone a chance to participate. He stated that because Nevada was so good, he took him out of the game, which upset the parents. The coach said the parents called him ignorant and other names, prompting him to ask for the family to leave immediately.

The video then shifts to the officers speaking with the parents, who disputed the coach's account of the events. One officer told the parents that the league believed they were causing a disturbance that interfered with the gameplay. The boy's mother responded that the team was angry because her son actually played soccer, expressing confusion over why he was being removed for being good at the sport. Another officer noted that the coach specifically mentioned that the parents became aggressive despite acknowledging their son's skill.

After the conversation, the parents agreed to leave the park with their son. A police event report obtained from the department stated that the parents left without issue and were cooperative with the league personnel. The report added that the parents were upset their child was being scorned for playing too well and being taken out of the game. One officer was heard laughing at the end of the clip, saying he wanted to see the boy play and bet he was good.

A news release from the Winter Park Police Department confirmed that the league official requested a response to a disturbance between league officials and the player's parents. The league asked the family to leave and offered a refund for the league cost. The officers were asked to communicate with the family to prevent the disturbance from escalating. The department described the incident as a civil matter between the parties, not a criminal one. No one was arrested, trespassed, or forced to leave the park.
