Shayna Feinman, 35, was located in Tijuana on Oct. 23, according to Mexican authorities. The woman was reported missing in the United States in March 2024. Tijuana security forces stated the find came after residents reported seeing a woman matching Feinman's description in the Encino neighborhood. Officials confirmed the individual was Feinman and moved her to a safe location to await contact with her family and U.S. agencies.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, however, said it has not been able to independently verify the identity of the woman in Mexico. Deputies cited insufficient evidence as the reason for their hesitation. Feinman’s sister, Kara, expressed similar doubt. Kara said she did not recognize the person in the photos shared by Mexican officials. She noted the family lacks hard evidence proving the woman is her sister.

Kara described the reports as disheartening for the family. She pointed out that this is not the first time Feinman has been reported spotted. The family has received multiple tips over the past two years. Each time, local law enforcement agencies have shared the information with limited supporting details. Kara said these repeated cycles have made it difficult for loved ones to gauge the reliability of the latest claim.

Feinman disappeared on March 9, 2024. She was walking to a friend’s house when she vanished without a trace. Two men were arrested in connection with her disappearance during 2024. The case remains open with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. The agency continues to investigate the new developments regarding the woman found in Tijuana.

Mexican officials have not shared further details on how Feinman ended up in the country. They stated the woman is currently in a safe location. U.S. authorities are waiting to establish contact with her. The family is reviewing the information provided by Tijuana security forces.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation. Deputies are reviewing the evidence from the Mexican find. The case file remains active. No additional timeline has been released for the next steps in the verification process.
